Endurance Team Payton

Welcome to our website. Learn about us, our horses, our successes, our sponsors, and all the latest news about our progress this year.
Team Payton consists of family and friends who over the years have enjoyed great fun in Endurance, spread around in Great Britain we now have an “Australian” link with Sarah’s return to South Australia in 2005.

Team success first occurred in 2003 winning the South East Group HCD Team Trophy. In 2006 the Team came 3rd in the National Team Competition, this year a new line up has taken up the challenge with Sally’s departure for a tour in the Falkland Islands.

Kings Forest

Lisa and Pilgrim completed 100km ER, Lisa’s first and only 6th ride, at Kings Forest this weekend. They finished last in 6th place. Lisa got lost on the 2nd loop did considerable extra distance and lost a lot of time, but continued with dogged determination on her own for the remaining loop and the next 2 loops, completing at 10.99kph. her Garmin was 128.7km and 14.1 kph. So indeed Endurance and steep learning curve but Pilgrim was star, vetted very quickly with straight A’s and never once glanced backwards going straight out of VG ears forward and Lisa said she never had to ask him to go forward and really picked her up when she was down.

Julia and Caspar also finished the 100ER ahead of Lisa. They didn’t ride together sadly as Julia had already arranged to ride with someone else and planned to go much slower so Lisa was ahead of them when she got lost. Brigid took Oliver to do the 40km in preparation for the 120ER Party in the Park next weekend. We shall help crew her.

Fiona had her operation where they removed some large tumours from her spine and we all wish her a speedy recovery and back on Bas as soon as possible.

Gilly’s fracture problems have proved insurmountable and so Pilgrim will be sold this year. He has been a great horse but at 9 really is ready for a 160km and it far to good to potter around at home. It will be a big loss but great to see him go on to better things in the future, having had him from unbroken colt stage a big wrench.
